Blended Learning & Authentic Assessment (BLAA) – CoB Strategic Project 2016

The Blended Learning & Authentic Assessment (BLAA) Project 2016 focussed on applying collaobrative learning applications and a blended approach to aid in the design of learning resources and assessment activities, with the primary aim of increasing student engagement with key course concepts. The 8 common core coordinators were given the task to creatively use educational technologies to enhance the quality of student learning in their courses.

In the video below Dr. Swee Hoon Chuah, Course Coordinator Prices & Market, discusses the resources the course team developed as part of the BLAA project for delivery semester 1 2017.

Key points:

  • Videos developed to add ‘life’ to key concepts, help explain complex ideas and enhance student engagement.
  • Curated WWW resources which show real-world relevance and application of course concepts
  • Students ‘play’ educational (online) games during tutorials as practical demonstrations of how concepts are derived and/or how concepts are applied.
  • Authentic assessment tasks incorporate visit to a market as a class activity, preparation of a report on a different market phenomena and presentation of report in tutorials.
