Kathy Douglas

Associate Deputy Vice Chancellor, Learning, Teaching & Quality

Kathy

Kathy leads the College of Business and Law learning, teaching and quality portfolio including governance, student satisfaction, program development and innovation in pedagogy. In her learning and teaching research she has published regarding blended learning, roleplay, and experiential pedagogy and video annotation.

Kathy also researches in alternative dispute resolution including dispute resolution practice and education. She has been a member of the Australian Dispute Resolution Advisory Council and a past president of the ADR Research Network.

Previously, she was the Dean of the Graduate School of Business and Law at RMIT. She was appointed in September 2018 and led a high performing school focussed on industry engaged learning and research. In 2020 she was awarded the Vice Chancellor's leadership award for Imagination. In 2021 she oversaw a review of learning and teaching governance in the College. For part of 2022 she was also Interim Director of Digital 3, an education aggregator that brought together digital research and education initiatives in the College.

Kathy has served on academic board and chaired the higher education committee of academic board in 2020. For many years she was an occasional chair of the University Appeals Committee. Kathy has a passion for impactful leadership that benefits students, staff and the communities that RMIT engages with, including industry.

Konrad

Konrad Peszynski

Head of Teaching & Learning Bachelor
of Business Program Director

Dr Konrad Peszynski is the Program Director of the Bachelor of Business and Head of Teaching and Learning in the College of Business and Law. They have been at RMIT University since May 2006 and held a number of roles and responsibilities, including Program Manager for the Master of Business (IT), Deputy Program Manager for the Master of Commerce, Higher Degree by Research Coordinator and most recently, Deputy Head of Department, Information Systems and Business Analytics in the School of Accounting, Information Systems and Supply Chain.

Simon Thorton

Work Integrated Learning & Bachelor of Business (Professional Practice) Program Director 

Dr Simon Thornton is a passionate academic dedicated to helping any student become a future business professional. A strong educational academic with a demonstrated history of working in the marketing and higher education industries providing experience in; communication, creative agencies, market research and face-to-face/online teaching. Areas of expertise include; Work Integrated Learning (WIL), Industry engagement in education, and Innovation and Enterprise. Specialist skills include; Program management, course creation and administration, lecturing, tutoring, mentoring, online studies and research techniques.

Quality Enhancement

The Learning and Teaching Quality Enhancement Team provides collaborative support to the quality and continuous improvement initiatives and projects within the College of Business and Law.

A division of the broader Learning and Teaching portfolio, the team offers a number of essential services to the College of Business and Law and its Schools including: advice in relation to program and course development and review, leading the College's and University’s formal program and course approval processes amongst other quality and enhancement areas.

Learning Design

The Learning Design Team provides collaborative processes and learning design expertise to assist educators in the design and development of innovative content for students.

Using evidence-based practices, the learning design team provide expertise, guidance, and assistance in the following areas of online/blended course development:

  • Educational technology integration
  • Alignment, activities, and assessment

Digital Development

Although the Digital Development Team’s primary remit is on the production of video and digital learning assets in-line with course development. Working closely with the learning design team and educators to produce engaging learning materials.
